Motivation by Tony Gurr

This was really hard for me to understand; in fact I still don't understand it. I can see the point he's trying to make, which is that he wants more freedom in learning because when kids don't get that then it stops them for reaching their goals. I didn't really understand what his point was with the pictures because the pictures distracted me a lot and I couldn't understand what some pictures meant. In my opinion, the pictures were overused. I personally prefer more writing than pictures and Tony's blog was the total opposite.

A picture that I couldn't even get near to understanding was this one:

He didn't really give a clue either to what he meant by this. The only thing Tony wrote was "Yes....." before this picture. Then he went on with his other pictures. I tried really hard to figure this out, but I failed. Maybe someone can fill me in?

Since, I didn't understand a lot of the pictures I can't really relate or write much about this post. The positive thing was that he at least got his point across, which I think is correct. I really couldn't get much of a understanding through his pictures and what he wrote, but the only thing I got out of it is that Tony wants to motivate teachers to give their students more freedom and give them freedom, so that the students can get a chance to achieve their goals. Other than that, I can't really say much about Tony's opinion.

  1. Ahsan,

    I'm so sorry...totally my fault ;-(

When we blog, we oftem make assumptions about what people will "bring" to a post - some bring knowledge, some bring background, some bring a relationship. The one picture you had problems with was related to that last one ;-) I was writing a book a few months back and had to take some time off blogging...amazingly, a couple of people missed me ;-)

If you look at my other posts, you'll see I put myself into a lot of the posts - share "personal" stuff. For example - I did a very personal post this morning:

    http://allthingslearning.wordpress.com/2013/06/19/so-you-think-you-can-teach/

...still about TEACHing - but with one of my guilty pleasures or hobbies ;-) My other MAJOR interest is movies...esp Sci-Fi (yes, I am one of those older geeky guys) ;-) Can you see the link with Arnold, now ;-)

I also LOVE philosophy...and THUNKing (a lot) ;-) have you ever heard the saying:

    I THINK, therefore I AM

Do you know who said this? What do you thunk he was getting at?

Hey, I hope that helps...let me know if you need any more - you know where I "live" ;-)

    Take care,

    T..
